Who We Are
SVSM is an organization with roots in the community supporting indigenous and non-indigenous children and young people with moderate to complex care needs. We offer high quality care and assistance to children and young people who are on Child Protection orders from the Department of Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services. We provide high quality workers with a variety of experiences and culturally diverse backgrounds in the local community to support children and young people in Care. Our organization has the backing of the wider community that values the lives of vulnerable children and young people in need of support, and we work in partnership with the Queensland government and other community services to ensure that their daily care and protection needs are met in a timely manner. SVSM also collaborates with education and other therapeutic services such as Evolve, YETI to provide high quality training to our workers and get them equipped to deal with the complex needs of the children and young people we support.
Our Services
Emergency Response Services (ERS)
Children and young people encounter breakdowns in their residential, foster care or therapeutic placement from time to time and may require emergency placement. We can provide high quality support and care in an emergency response placement to ensure they are safe and well cared for. Our ERS are staffed with workers who have greater experience in the industry and can provide high quality of care to children and young people facing an emergency placement situation.
Residential Care Services
Our service provides residential placements for children and young people needing short to long term accommodation, where they are provided with high quality care by our professional staff. These placements can be supportive, therapeutic, and nurturing to them with a view to assist them make the best of it while in our care.
Therapeutic Placement Services (TPS)
For young people who require one on one individualised support due to the level of their disability, behavioural and substance misuse problems, we offer high quality staffing to support them, and do referrals to other professional services such as Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH), YETI (Alcohol and Other Drugs), Evolve therapeutic services etc. We maintain a strict medication regime at the placement and monitor their progress effectively and efficiency to ensure they stick to their health plans while at the placement.
Residential Care Services

Foster Care Services
SVSM often provides support to foster carers who encounter emergencies where a child or young person is hospitalized, and a foster carer cannot support them at the hospital due to other young people they have in their care. SVSM can provide staffing to support them at the hospital twenty-four seven. Our service also provides respite supports when a foster carer demands one due to them taking breaks for personal reasons. In this case, the organization often arranges for the child’s placement.
