Career

Our organisation supports children and young people needing a safe, reliable, and nurturing living environment that supports their daily care and complex needs. As a youth support worker, you are expected to report directly to the Case Manager on your day-to-day delivery of service.

Your daily duties will include supporting young people with moderate to complex needs at the placement; managing their behaviours using your skills you acquired through training, and personal experiences; support them in all their education, health, and other important appointments; encourage their daily routine such as personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning their rooms, doing their laundries, and budgeting. To achieve these outcomes, you are expected to build positive rapport with them with a view to make yourself accessible so they can trust you. Workers are not expected to be judgmental of the young people we support in our care, and we must not offer our opinion of their complex care needs. Although not a requirement but candidates who have prior experiences working with children and young people with complex care needs could be an added advantage in the role.

We also require candidates to have or be able to obtain the following documents prior to commencing your role:

  • A paid Blue Card or have applied for one Child Safety Personal History Check (LCS2) National Crime Check.
  • Current valid driver’s licence with no restrictions.
  • Own or have access to a car that is in good mechanical condition and can seat four adults.
  • Already hold or are enrolled in a Certificate IV Child, Youth & Family Intervention or higher in a relevant field prior to commencing work.
  • Be able to provide two references.
